The Weinsteins Pact With Sean Penn On New Film

Written by: FFT Webmaster | September 30th, 2011

The Weinstein Company has picked up North American rights to THIS MUST BE THE PLACE, a new film directed by Italian director Paolo Sorrentino and starring Oscar winner Sean Penn. The film, which debuted at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, stars Penn as a former rock star who joins forces with a Nazi hunter to find the man who tormented his father. The film received mix reviews at the Festival but the appeal for the actor is so strong that a distribution deal is now in place. The film was produced by Nicola Giuliano and Francesca Cima for Indigo Film, Andrea Occhipinti for Lucky Red, and Medusa Film in co-production with ARP in France and Element Pictures in Ireland in association with Pathè International, Italian banking group Banca Intesa and the support of Eurimages and the Irish Film Board.
