I enjoyed the ChefDance dinners, but ICM was special because it was at the St. Regis in Deer Valley and you can watch the negotiating and deal-making. And, I had the opportunity to see old friends, including ICM client Sean Baker, whose film Tangerine, shot on three iPhone 5S’s, premiered at Sundance. I’ve known Sean for 12 years since he lived above the Chinese restaurant in Manhattan that inspired his first film, Takeout. Another bonus at the event was the opportunity to catch up with some other people and to learn what they’re doing now.
If you are able to attend the ICM event you’re sure to enjoy every facet of it. For example, you get to sit outside on a big square couch with a fireplace in the middle of it, and relax in a very comfortable indoor lounge where there’s plentiful food and drink served.
There is also an area where sponsors display their products. Among this year’s sponsors were Temple Coffee products (www.templecoffee.com) and Brikk, manufacturer of high end iPhone cases and accessories, along with a range of interesting and beautiful luxury objects. (www.brixx.com.)
