With the official press conference for the Cannes Film Festival happening today, news is beginning to leak out about some of the prominent world premieres that will be celebrated on the Croisette. It has been confirmed that RESTLESS, the newest film from American indie auteur Gus Van Sant, will open the non-competitive Un Certain Regard selection on May 12. The teen drama, produced by Columbia Pictures, Imagine Entertainment and 360 Pictures, features rising stars Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hooper. Van Sant is no stranger to Cannes. In 2003, his controversial film ELEPHANT won the Festival’s highest honor the Palme D’Or, and in 2007 his film PARANOID PARK won the Festival’s 60th Anniversary Prize. His first film to premiere at the world’s most famous film festival was TO DIE FOR, starring Nicole Kidman, in 1995.
