Locarno Film Festival Opens Tonight

Oh….to be in the lake resort of Locarno, Switzerland with its beautiful azure waters and snow-capped mountains in the distance. And starting this evening, a banquet of film treats as the 64th edition of the Locarno Film Festival opens with the European premiere of SUPER 8 by J.J. Abrams as an open-air screening in the town’s famed Piazza Grande. The Festival, one of Europe’s oldest and most prestigious, offers savvy filmgoers and industry professionals an intoxicating survey of the current state of the cinema arts. Among the cinema auteurs and celebrities who will be attending: Claudia Cardinale, Harrison Ford, Leslie Caron, Isabelle Huppert, Ingrid Caven, Kabir Bedi, Guy Bedos, Abel Ferrara, Mike Medavoy, Bruno Ganz, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Olivia Wilde, Claude Goretta, Hitoshi Matsumoto, Kati Outinen, Nicolas Winding Refn, Daniel Craig, Pierre Richard, Maribel Verdú, Anri Sala and Daniel Brühl.
