Lee Daniels, the African-American director who directed the triumphant drama PRECIOUS to Oscar glory two years ago, is taking a change of pace with his next project. He is set to direct THE PAPER BOY, a sexy adaptation of the 1995 Pete Dexter novel, that will star such eye candy as Matthew McConaughey, Sofia Vergara, Zac Efron and Tobey Maguire. The film centers on the investigation of an unsolved sexual murder case in a small Florida town and the secrets and lies that are uncovered in the process. The original novel contained scenes of lurid sexuality, full frontal nudity and transgressive sex. Will these lead actors bare all is the question that has Cannes buzzing when news of the project hit the industry trade papers this week.
