IFC Films Buys Rights To Directors Fortnight Film

Written by: FFT Webmaster | May 25th, 2012

IFC Films has acquired North American rights to SIGHTSEERS, a British comedy by Ben Wheatley that had its world premiere earlier this week in the Directors Fortnight section at Cannes. Wheatley, the director of critically acclaimed films KILL LIST and DOWN TERRACE, also co-wrote the screenplay about a couple on an ill-fated van trip through the British Isles. Alice Lowe and Stem Oram star in the dark comedy. IFC Films and its sister companies Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight are strongly represented at Cannes by ON THE ROAD, Argentine director Walter Salles’ adaptation of the Jack Kerouac beat classic; BEYOND THE HILLS, the latest film from Romanian New Wave director Cristian Mungiu; the SXSW Film Festival prize winner GIMME THE LOOT by Adam Leon; and ROOM 237, director Rodney Ascher’s documentary look at the making of the Stanley Kubrick classic horror film THE SHINING.
