George Clooney’s Venice Adventure

Written by: FFT Webmaster | June 22nd, 2011

THE IDES OF MARCH, the latest film to be directed by George Clooney, will open the 2011 edition of the Venice Film Festival on August 31. The film, adapted from Beau Willimon’s stage play FARRAGUT NORTH, stars Clooney as a presidential candidate, Ryan Gosling as his head of media and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as his campaign manager. Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood also star. The drama takes place during the Ohio primary for the Democratic nomination, with rumors swirling about the candidate’s possible sexual indiscretions. The subject is, of course, extremely topical, given the recent resignation of Congressman Anthony Weiner for, yes, showing his weiner on Twitter and YouTube. Expect this to be one of the most talked-about films of the Fall season.
