The New York Philharmonic’s star-studded production of Stephen
Sondheim’s “Company”, which played to sell-out crowds last week at
Avery Fisher Hall is heading to a movie screen near you. The
distributor Screenvision announced that it will broadcast a taped
production of the award-winning show starting June 15 to a network of
2400 theaters in 50 states. The recent production featured a stellar
cast that included Craig Bierko, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Katie
Finneran, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Hendricks Patti LuPone,
Martha Plimpton and Anika Noni Rose, among others. Screenvision will
also release big screen broadcast versions of such recent Broadway
hits as an adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being
Earnest” and the Afro musical biopic “Fela!”
