Dr. Seuss Film Has Strongest Opening This Year

Written by: FFT Webmaster | March 5th, 2012

THE LORAX, an adaptation of the Dr. Seuss book, is now the biggest-opening animated family film that is not a sequel. Raking in more than $70 million in its first weekend, this is Universal Pictures’ fourth-biggest opening of all time and the biggest opening weekend ever for a movie based on a Dr. Suess book. So far, this is the biggest opening yet in 2012 and the most ever for a Universal animated film. Pre-release expectations for the eco-friendly 3D movie were around $40 million, which was almost doubled.
