Independent Spirit Award-nominee LOVERS OF HATE begins NYC theatrical run on February 11!

Written by: FFT Webmaster | February 11th, 2011

On behalf of IFC Films, we are pleased to announce the NYC theatrical run of Bryan Poyser‘s critically acclaimed film, LOVERS OF HATE.

On Friday, February 11, 2011, the Independent Spirit Award-nominated LOVERS OF HATE will open in the city of New York.

In timing with this release, film talent will be available for interview requests. Please feel free to share this exciting information with your readers and let us know if you’d like a screener of the film for review/editorial consideration!

LOVERS OF HATE is a delicious tale of deceit and sibling rivalry, two adult brothers, Rudy (Chris Doubek of THE CASSIDY KIDS) and Paul (Alex Karpovsky of TINY FURNITURE), represent failure and success. Younger brother Paul is a successful author who writes Harry Potter-like fantasy novels for children, while Rudy, Paul’s childhood collaborator on the stories, moves from job to job, unable to get started on his own novel–the long-gestating “Lovers of Hate.” The one thing they do have in common is their love for Diana (Heather Kafka of “FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS”), Rudy’s soon-to-be ex-wife. When opportunistic Paul whisks Diana away to a romantic mountain retreat (in Park City, Utah, incidentally), the lovers have no idea that Rudy has made it there first. From the shadows of the posh chalet, Rudy tries desperately to sabotage their relationship in director Bryan Poyser’s (DEAR PILLOW) brilliantly executed game of cat and mouse. A testament to three star-making performances and a tightly constructed script, LOVERS OF HATE, delicately balances humor and despair while pushing characters to painful and hilarious extremes. There are no clear winners in this savage comedy about curdled love, but it is one enjoyable ride. Produced by Megan Gilbride (THE CASSIDY KIDS) and executive produced by Athina Rachel Tsangari (DOGTOOTH), Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass (THE PUFFY CHAIR, CYRUS).

LOVERS OF HATE premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition and went on to play at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival. The film has been nominated for the John Cassavetes Award at the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards.
