Liddell Entertainment is launching LD Distribution, a new indie distribution company, bringing in industry veteran David Dinerstein as president. Dinerstein has long been involved with specialty distribution, having served as co-founder and former president of Paramount Classics, senior VP of marketing at Fox Searchlight and head of marketing at Miramax Films. Most recently he was president of D Squared Films. LD Distribution will actively acquire films and provide distribution for Liddell Entertainment’s expanding production slate. It is aiming to produce four to six movies a year with budgets of up to $25 million, the company said in a statement. Liddell Entertainment’s upcoming releases include THE GREY starring Liam Neeson; SILENT HOUSE starring Elizabeth Olsen (both distributed by Open Road) and Oscar contender ALBERT NOBBS (distributed by Roadside Attractions) with award-worthy performances by Glenn Close and Janet McTeer. The company’s debut production slate, to be distributed next year, includes KILLER JOE, a cop thriller by William Friedkin and starring Matthew McConaughey; DISCONNECT, starring Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard; and the horror film THE COLLECTION by SAW writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
