Founder Jorge Ballos, announced that the 1st SoHo International Film Festival NYC 2010 (www.siffnyc.com)  will run February 18-21, 2010 in the heart of SoHo, New York City. “This new festival will celebrate the cutting-edge of digital technology while honoring traditional forms of storytelling with a presentation of at least twelve feature films, in and out of competition categories. In addition, the festival will host filmmaking seminar and nightly after-parties. Leading figures of the film industry as well as local film enthusiasts are expected to attend the unique, four-day February event. By enticing filmmakers, journalists and cineastes from America and around the globe with a strong slate of domestic and international films, we expect to draw audiences to this side of the city, known for its artistic community and cultural sophistication,” stated Ballos. “It is our way of helping boost the profile, the sense of pride, and the economy of the local community and the city itself.”

Co-founder Luis Pedron added, “We got a lot of strong foreign film submissions through withoutabox.com that should make our festival a distinguished international showcase. In addition, we’ve received a good number of wonderfully original shorts and indie features from American filmmakers.”

On February 21, 2010, the festival will have an awards night to announce the winner of the following categories: Best US Showcase, Best World Showcase, Best Documentary, Best Short, Best Work in Progress and Audience Awards.
