Regular submission deadline is May 1. Late submission deadline is May 21.
SAVE THE DATE! September 21 – 26, 2010
Now in its eighth year, the GLOBAL PEACE FILM FESTIVAL draws together filmmakers and filmgoers from all walks of life into a community of people inspired to take action in their daily lives to leave the world a more peaceful place than they found it. The GPFF seeks to create a festival that will reflect a broad definition of peace, based on Dr. Martin Luther King’s statement: “Peace is not only the absence of conflict but also the presence of justice.”
We define peace very broadly and include categories not usually associated with a “peace film” festival. For instance, we have programmed Sci-Fi and comedies in previous festivals and love to see different takes on these subjects. We are looking for narratives that tell stories from around the world; stories that address the issues of poverty, injustice, violence, greed and fear – fear of people who are different, who will take our jobs, who don’t believe in our god. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” might be an inspiration. We are looking for works that illustrate in a thousand ways how peace can be achieved and how it gets destroyed.
We are seeking films on subjects and issues including:
- Global peace
- Conflict resolution
- Peace activism
- Environmental issues
- Water & Oceans
- Inter-generational stories
- Music/Art & peace
- Providing safe environments for children and families
- Community mediation
- and any other topics that affect the struggle for peace
